Things in SW Florida are looking up!
As a Florida real estate lawyer and business owner for nearly 20 years, I have seen and experienced an unusual amount of economic turbulence over the last twenty five years – we all have. We have seen “Black Monday” in October of 1988, the recession of the early nineties, the dot.com boom and bust period from around 1995 – 2000, the short recession and September 11th attacks in 2001, the period of the real estate bubble and crash from around 2000 – 2005, the period of the recent financial crisis and long recession lasting from around 2007 – 2010.
Well, things seem to be looking up again and a sense of positivity is filling the air. Breathe it in; it is good for you. Here are some recent trends and interesting data pertaining to the Florida economy and wonderful lifestyle that I would like to share with you:
1. Prices have stabilized and even begun to increase in many areas and inventory is falling substantially.
2. Builders are actually building new homes and offering them for sale at attractive prices so people once again have the option of buying a new home in a nice new subdivision development.
3. Interest rates have gotten even lower over the past few months and are at historical lows. This means you can get more house for your money!
